Matt Borelli entered Tuesday as NHL.com's newest Beat the Streak extraordinaire. An 18-year-old through Connecticut, the soon-to-be college student acquired so far made 38 continuous correct picks on the trek toward a potential $5.6 000 0000 windfall.

'It's disappointing that the streak is over, for sure,' Borelli claimed. 'Looking back at it, it's not real that I was even in this location to begin with. I'm just fortunate for the opportunity to play this kind of incredible game.

'It's relieving that I'm tied for the top i'm all over this the leaderboard. I guess it's a sterling silver lining, it shows that the streak wasn't all for naught.'

The outfielder came close to tallying popular in the fifth inning, but this individual was denied by a stellar fielding play.

'Unfortunately, [Phillies third baseman] Maikel Franco robbed him of a double in the 6th inning with a terrific diving quit,' Borelli said.

McCutchen was a sound pick, for sure, as he moved into Tuesday with a .341 average because Aug. 1 and a .311 tag overall.

'I picked McCutchen because he had three hits [in each of] his last three games. The August stats [were] fantastic,In . Borelli said.

'He's definitely in the operating for the NL batting title, i was hoping he'd get at least one hit [Tuesday].'

BTS participants make an effort to establish a virtual 'hitting streak' by selecting one or two big leaguers per day, because of their runs continuing as long as their particular selections collect at least one reach in their contests. Tampa Bay -- When A.J. Preller was hired as general manager with the Padres in August, Chris Kemp has been excited for him, however in no way saw it as an chance to leave his own post with all the Rangers for a job and a chance to be reunited with Preller in Tampa Bay.

'I never really seriously considered the next job because I was so immersed in the one that I had,' said Kemp, who received just completed his sixth year with the Rangers being an area scout, scouring your Carolinas and also eastern Tennessee for players.

'There are so many good gamers here. I was happy where by I was.'

But when Preller recently provided Kemp the opportunity for something even larger -- director of international looking for the Padres -- the 31-year-old simply could not pass this up.

'Who would not be interested in finding players on the worldwide scale,' Kemp said Sunday from his property in Charlotte, N.H. 'The Rangers were gracious sufficient to let me interview. Creating that call to [Texas general manager Jon Daniels and also director of amateur searching Kip Fagg] was hard. If it had not been for them, I would still be teaching junior college hockey.'

Kemp will become the third hire for Preller, who in August hired longtime mentor Don Welke as the team's vice president of scouting operations and then last month hired Jesse Post away from the Astros to be a unique assistant to the general manager, in which he'll assist in scouting with all fronts.

As for Kemp, His shares a background with previous Padres third baseman Chase Headley. Kemp, who was the first baseman, was a teammate of Headley's in 2004 at the University connected with Tennessee. His signed with all the Rangers as an undrafted free realtor in 2006 and competed two seasons.

He later came back to Spartanburg Methodist JC, where His previously competed, as an assistant coach for the 2008 and 2009 seasons before signing up for the Rangers as a scout in 2010.

'Those guys brought us on board and I hit the street and didn't look back,Inch Kemp said. 'I learned a ton from A.J. in those 5yrs.'

Preller was impressed with Kemp ahead of time and thinks he'll succeed in his new role, even though he's short -- as in nothing -- on international experience.

'I assume the biggest think is His has an evaluator, a good judge associated with talent with a very, very good work ethic,' Preller stated. 'In all jobs, there are some studying curves, but his evaluation; he's got a high motor along with a big time work ethic. His or she understands kids and players. I think His can jump directly into any arena. Those things come through no matter what.'

Kemp won't squander any time getting to work. He'll fly to the Dominican Republic wherever he'll be picked up by Felix Feliz, one of the team's international searching for supervisors.

'I've always had a bug for finding players and have often liked scouting the younger youngsters,' Kemp said. 'And with searching the international market, under consideration the players who are off the radar a little bit more, the 15, 16-year-olds where you have to project them more.

'We plan on hitting the ground operating. My No. 1 purpose is to find the players to fill it up. We've got to find the players.'

Preller, who made a name for himself looking internationally, has made it be identified the Padres will do the same. Your team's executive chairman, Ron Fowler, even said as much final spring. The Padres have been associated with Cuban power hitter Yasmani Tomas and recently held a private workout intended for him.

'I think you have to said [international scouting] on the same level and novice and pro scouting. All 3 of those need to be on the same volume of importance,' Kemp said. 'When there we were with Texas, it was concerning being creative and outworking the competition. I expect it will be the same here.'
